As we assembled our boats, people from the local rowing club were taking sculls out from the boathouse that adjoined the lot. I talked with the Press, who were covering the start of the Great Hudson River Paddle, and with a retired parks service director. We got into the water just before 9am. The weather was nice, with a clear but hazy sky, but with a strong wind from the south, the direction we would be paddling.
